5 Things...

...that I've been loving lately!

1. Blueberry White Chocolate Cheesecake with Blueberry Sauce.

When I made this dessert I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out but it was amazing! The cheesecake is really light and the fresh blueberries pop in your mouth when you eat them. This is my go-to recipe from now on when I need to make a dessert for something.

2. My cat Sloan

Just look at that face how could you not love him!

3. Blush Colored Steve Madden Kitten Heels

I bought these 1 year ago at Winners for only $30 and I still love them. They can be worn with a causal or dressy outfit, and because they are a nude colour you can wear them with almost anything.

4. Flowers in my Mother's Garden

My mom is a master gardener. Her yard always looks like a masterpiece. These beautiful flowers are in pots on either side of the garage and I cant help but smile whenever I look at them. Love this colour.

5. Nail Polish in bright Spring colours

I have been loving wearing bright polish lately. And it seems like I am going for colours inspired by the Spring things around me. This colour by Rimmel was inspired by the colour of the flowers above.

May 2-4 Weekend @ Niagara Falls

For the long weekend me and my boyfriend went to Niagara Falls. We both have been working long, crazy, stressful hours and this was a much needed vacation. I love going to Niagara Falls because I love Wax Museums, they allow my inner nerd to escape and have some fun. There was also mini golf, and shops, and other attractions that kept us quite busy all weekend. Below are some of my favourite pictures from our trip, and I thought I would share them with you.

This is my favourite picture from our trip. I think that this really captures the beauty of the American Falls.

The Canadian Falls at night when they light it up. The lights aren't that impressive but it's still something cool to see when you are walking by the water at night.

Had to take a picture of Edward and Bella in the MovieLand Wax Museum. I also took a picture with Jacob Black but it didn't really turn out.

Wizard of Oz was one of my favourite movies when I was growing up. I can still watch it now and know all of the words to the songs!

Star Wars...enough said.

The Sky Wheel was so big and it would have been cool to go on, but it was a little to expensive for only going around a couple times.

Another daytime picture of the American Falls.

A nighttime picture of the American Falls.

Me and the Hershey Kiss at the Hershey Store. This is kinda an OOTD picture too. I love these coral pants! So bright and perfect for Spring and Summer.

Lady Gaga!!

Me and Bruce Willis...sigh...he is my favourite actor.

When my boyfriend took this picture he's like, "Who is this supposed to be?" I was shocked he didn't know who Harry Potter was!

Oh Leonard Nimoy...I had to take this picture just because of Sheldon on Big Bang Theory. Live Long and Prosper.

"Oh no I'm falling over the falls!" My boyfriend had a good laugh at this. The unfunny thing was that shortly after a man actually did go over the Falls.

Water Fall Volcano at the Dinosaur Golf. Every 5 minutes it actually erupted with real flames.

At the entrance of Dinosaur Golf.

I had many more pictures from my vacation but these are just some of my favourite. Although very busy and very expensive to go there on a holiday weekend it was well worth it.

NOTD: Fall Mood

Today is a very gloomy, rainy day. It's a perfect day for watching movies, eating ice cream, and working on my blog. It was time to change my nail polish color and the weather was not really inspiring me to go with a bright springy colour, so I chose Revlon's Color Stay Longwear Enamel in 140 Fall Mood. It is a really pretty bronze colour with many different bronze-gold tones in it. It was opaque after 2 coats, and I have to say I really like this colour with my skin tone.

This isn't a colour I would normally pick out, but it came as a free gift when I bought a Revlon Color Stay Eyeshadow Quad, so even if I didn't like it, it's not like I am out any money. I usually try and change my polish every week so I'm excited to see if this polish will last a whole week without chipping.

May Glymm Bag!

If you have read my past Glymm Box reviews you will know that I have not been very impressed with Glymm lately. Their boxes have gotten worse every month and the products haven't been very high-end like they promise. Well, a few weeks ago Glymm put out a teaser picture of Glymm Nylon and it showed a very pretty hot pink bag, they also upped their price to $12/month. My initial thought was that the bag was going to be a one time special thing that you could order on top of your monthly box and I thought that $12 was way to much money for the products we were receiving.

Well when I got my Glymm Bag in the mail this month I was very happy with the changes that Glymm has made. The hot pink makeup bag is perfect for in my purse or to use as a holder for my GPS. I'm not sure how I will like getting a bag every month but we will see how long this lasts. I also received notice that the price will not go up for me as long as I keep my account active.

I hope that Glymm keeps up with sending the same good samples and brands, cause I would definitely be more inclined to stay subscribed if they do.

This bag is such a gorgeous colour and so cute and minimalist. Love it! The plastic lined interior is great because it can be cleaned so easily.

Crushed Cabernet Scrub
Full Size - 150g/$29
Sample Size - 60g/$11.60
Sample Usage - Up to 3 uses

This natural, wine-inspired body scrub reveals softer and healthier skin.

How It Works - Use this strong scrub to smooth away imperfections. Along with its coarse granules it also contains the 6 draining and cellulite-fighting organic essential oils of the Contouring Concentrate - so boost your slimming regimen! Use once per week to keep your skin feeling its best.

My Thoughts - Now this is a sample! I am going to have enough of this to know whether I like it or not. The smell I'm not crazy about, but if it works I can get over the smell. Although it is very scrubby it is also very moisturizing which I like because I have dry skin on my body. The jar is so cute, I am definitely going to find something to use it for once it is empty.

Lip Treats
Full Size - Pack of 2/$28
Sample Size - 1 for $14
Sample Usage - Up to 3 months

Delight your lips with moisture and a punch of desired color with this new and innovative Lip Treat.

How It Works - This exceptionally moisturizing and soothing lip balm not only tints your lips but can also be layered to give them more intense color. What's more? It doubles as a primer for gloss. It will enhance shine and keep your gloss in place longer. Apply product directly to lips, and reapply until you reach desired color.

My Thoughts - I really don't need anymore lip products as I am trying to use up a bunch right now but I will definitely keep this until I need a new lip product. This color is a really nice pink and goes on very smoothly. It smells very good, it has a fruity smell. Another great product Glymm!

CK Shock for Her & Him
Full Size - 50ml/$45
Sample Size - 2 @ $1.08 = $2.16
Sample Usage - 35 sprays each

My Thoughts - I was actually glad to get these perfume samples. I love that they have a spritzer for easy application and the size of the samples are good as well. There was so much information on the card about these perfumes that I couldn't put it all on here. I really like how Glymm put all the scent notes on the card so that people like me who have trouble describing scents can describe it to someone else. I really like the CK for Her, and am considering buying a roller ball or the smallest size, but the CK for Him does nothing for me.

HydroPunch Hydrating Conditioner
Full Size - 250 ml/$24.99
Sample Size - 20ml/$2
Sample Usage - Up to 4 uses

Turn dull and damaged hair into vibrant, healthy strands that you cant help but twirl all day long.

How It Works - A punch never sounded so appealing. This conditioner is packed with Argan oil, fatty acids, Vitamin E and powerful antioxidants. Massage into clean, wet hair from the scalp to the hair ends. rinse thoroughly with clean water.

My Thoughts - This hair care sample is way better then the little 1 use packets we got last month. Being able to use this a few times will allow me to determine if it is worth buying. I hate the smell of this product and my hair is very finicky with products that have oils in them so once I try this out I will be able to give an honest review.

2 mini extra samples of Caudalie moisturizing products. I like getting these little extra products instead of candy each month. I feel like I am getting more for my money. I am going to transfer these to little sample containers because I feel like I am going to be able to use these more then 1 time.

Mineral Matte Cucumber Face Sunscreen
Full Size - 50ml/$36
Sample Size - 5ml/$3.60
Sample Usage - Up to 4 uses

Protect your face from UV rays with this hydrating, refreshing sunblock. Coola donates a portion of sales to cancer research.

How It Works - It's infused with certified organic ingredients like vitamins, antioxidants, Shea Butter and Borage Seed Oil. Apply evenly over face in upward strokes. You'll have SPF protection immediately after application. The Canadian Cancer Society recommends applying sunscreen at least 20 minutes before sun exposure.

My Thoughts - Not the biggest sample but I am looking for a face sunscreen so maybe I will like this one. I am hoping that this wont make my face more oily then it already is.

Overall Value of the May Glymm Bag - $33.36

I was really impressed with this month's bag and the size of the samples inside. I also liked the variety of samples that I received. If Glymm continues in this direction I can only assume more good things from them and I will stay subscribed

NOTD: ElePhantastic Pink

This week I wanted to keep with bright colored nail polish for Spring, so I decided to go with my favourite nail polish of all time OPI's ElePhantastic Pink. However, before I painted my nails I got a little inspiration from Chelsea Morgan Beauty. If you click the link it will bring you to her blog with her NOTD Post.

I don't have Julep's Oscar Nail Polish, so I used OPI's Glitzerland instead and got the same effect. I really like how this manicure turned out and I think that it is perfect for Spring.

40 Beauty Questions

I am not sure if this is a tag but I thought that it would be fun to share some of stuff about me and my beauty routine and favourites. Seeing as this blog is mostly about beauty, skincare, and makeup. Here are the 40 questions.

1) How many times do you wash your face daily?

I wash my face every night in the shower and in the morning I just use toner and moisturizer.

2) What skin type do you have?

I have a very oily T-Zone but a normal cheek zone. So maybe I am combination? Usually when I get facials they tell me I have oily skin.

3) What is your current facial wash?

Currently I am using St. Ives Apricot Scrub and Clean and Clear Foaming Facial Wash.

4) Do you exfoliate?

Yes I exfoliate my face every night with St. Ives Apricot Scrub

5) What moisturizer do you use?

My holy grail moisturizer is Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel.

6) Do you have freckles?

When I go out in the sun my freckles become noticeable, but if I don't go in the sun you cant see them.

7) Do you use an eye cream?

I use a firming eye gel from Carol Baker Massage.

8) Do you or did you have acne prone skin?

I never really had acne I just had random breakouts throughout my teen years.

9) Did you ever have to use Proactiv?

Nope. Never have and never will. I think it is way to expensive.

10) What foundation do you use?

I change my foundation all the time but right now I am using a one from Covergirl. I am not sure exactly which one it is but I mix it with moisturizer for a little less coverage.

11) How about concealer?

I don't leave the house without concealer. I use it under my eyes, to cover blemishes and redness, and to conceal a healing scar that I got in a car accident a couple months ago.

12) Do you know your undertone colour?

I think that I have pink undertones because when i was trying to pick between Painterly and Soft Ochre Paint Pot they told me that Soft Ochre would be to yellow for my skin.

13) What do you think of false eyelashes?

My natural eyelashes are both long and thick so I rarely need mascara let alone false lashes. Plus the extra work to apply them is not worth the hassle.

14) Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?

Yes I did but I rarely follow that rule. I probably should though because I am already blind I don't need to make my eyes any worse.

15) What brand of mascara do you use?

I use whatever is on sale. I try and buy a different mascara every time I need one. But I always but drugstore mascara.

16) Sephora or MAC?

I have never been to Sephora so I guess I have to say MAC, but if I had a Sephora near me it would probably be my favourite.

17) Do you have a MAC Pro Card?

Nope and I don't want one.

18) What makeup tools do you use in makeup application?

I use my fingers and brushes and sponges.

19) Do you use an eye primer?

Everyday. I use Painterly Paint Pot from MAC.

20) Do you use a face primer?

Yes I use L'Oreals Magic Perfecting Face Primer.

21) What's your favourite eyeshadow?

Probably Pillow a mineral eyeshadow from Carol Baker Massage. It is the perfect highlight color for my skin.

22) Liquid or pencil eyeliner?

Pencil. I have tried and tried to get good with liquid liner, but I don't think I will ever be able to not make a mess when applying it.

23) How often do you poke yourself in the eye with eyeliner?

Mascara - all the time, Eyeliner - never.

24) What do you think of mineral pigments?

I love them and the colours and the idea of them but they are such a pain to use. I have 2 Bella Pierre Pigment Stacks that I wish I could use more often, but I just don't have the patience to use them.

25) Do you use mineral makeup?

Sometimes, but not usually.

26) What is your favourite lipstick?

Right now my favourite lipstick is Angel by MAC

27) How about lip gloss?

Any lip gloss by Fusion Beauty.

29) Do you buy your makeup on eBay?

I have browsed, but never bought. The shipping things I want to buy is always too much.

30) Do you like drugstore makeup?

Most of my makeup is drugstore brands.

31) Do you go to CCO’s (Cosmetic Company Outlets)?

I have been to a CCO once and bought MAC pigments. If I went back I would probably buy the whole store.

32) Did you ever consider taking makeup classes?

The college in my home town offers a Makeup Artists course and I am really thinking about taking it in night school this summer.

33) Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?

Nope, I've pretty much got my morning routine down to a T.

34) What's your make up pet peeve?

When women line their lower lash line with dark liner but don't put anything on their water line. Or when people don't blend their makeup.

35) Do you like colourful shades of makeup (lipstick, eyeshadow) or neutral ones?

My everyday look is pretty neutral but I like to use a pop of colour every now and again.

36) Which celebrity always has great makeup?

I always like how Selena Gomez's makeup looks.

37) If you could leave the house using just ONE makeup item, what would you use?

Foundation! It just makes me feel more confident when I am wearing it.

38) Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on? Do you think you look good even without makeup on?

I leave the house all the time without makeup when I need to run errands. I don't think I look bad but I like how I look with makeup better.

39) In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line?

Hmmm if I had to pick one it would be MAC.

40) What do you think of makeup?

I love makeup. I love how it makes me look. But I think I own too much of it.

April 2012 Glymm Box

So, this post is extremely over do. I received my box a few weeks ago, but just haven't had the motivation to write this review. Again I am very disappointed with Glymm this month. Last month's box was so good and I thought that they would continue sending out great boxes, but I was wrong. I am thinking of adding GlossyBox to my life, cause it looks like they continuously send out great boxes every month full of great products.

Here is my review of this month's products.

Very small samples and a very empty box this month.

ATELIER COLOGNE/Orange Sanguine Fragrance
Sample Value: 1ml/$2
Full Size: 30ml/$60
On the Card: Atelier Cologne is a niche perfume house based in Paris and New York. Each scent is intended to embody a "singular moment" of memory and experience. We present to you Orange Sanguine, "It was the kind of moment you would want to revisit. Everyone was here, gathered on the terrace for breakfast, and the scent of fresh oranges was diffusing in the yellow heat. A symphony of their laughter and waves hitting the cliffs played in the air."
My Thoughts: I was really surprised that I liked this perfume. I first thought it was literally a cologne for guys, but I could see myself wearing this perfume evryday. It really smells like oranges and it isn't too strong for day to day wear. I'm not sure if I would buy the full size, but if I got another sample I wouldn't mind.

LUCIA/ Soap No. 1
Sample Value: $2.19
Full Size: Package of 8 soaps / $17.50
On the Card: These refined jewels are packed with pure botanical extracts and enriched with 100% certified organic Shea Butter. Not only will your skin feel silky-soft, it will also be thoroughly cleansed and smelling so seductive. Go ahead, drape yourself in luxury, you know you want to. Signature scents include: Goat Milk & Linseed and Wild Ginger & Fresh Fig.
My Thoughts: This soap is really little, like the size you get in your room at hotels. The scent is really fresh and I feel like this is going to be a really moisturizing soap. I am going on vacation next week, so I think that I am going to bring this to use instead of the normal unscented soaps in the room.

FREE YOUR MANE/ Sulfate Free Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner
Sample Value: $0.80
Full Size: 300 ml / $16.00
On the Card: "I'm sorry, I cant make it, gotta wash my hair." You will totally use this line after trying this shampoo and conditioner. It gently cleanses hair and scalp while nautral oils help rebuild your hair's delicate moisture balance. With an exclusive blend of Brilliant Baobab Oil from Africa, ultra-moisturizing Argan Oil from Morocco, anti-oxidant rich Pomegranate Seed Oil and Sweet Almond Oil it will truly Free Your Mane.
My Thoughts: I hate getting shampoo samples like this!! They are too small for even one use on my long hair and I need to be able to try hair products at least a couple times before I can tell if I will like them. Samples like these I usually just give away or they end up stashed somewhere in my room forever.

MAI COUTURE/Social Gloss
Sample Value: $28.00
Full Size: 5 ml / $28.00
On the Card: Treat your lips with luxury you simply can't live without. Not only will this gloss fill in unwanted lines and restore moisture, but it will create full kissable lips. Your lips will be healthy and plump. This sheer formula will create a sumptuous and luminous sheen. The secret: A complex mix of plant extracts, naturally enhances lip volume effortlessly without the allergen. Your lips will be the life of the party.
My Thoughts: I really like the consistency of this gloss. It isn't sticky at all and goes on very smooth. This color is really sheer and basically just gives my lips a glossy and shimmery look. I wish I had gotten the pink color that some other girls were getting, but we don't always get what we want. I like this gloss, but I would never pay $28 for the full size.

NuMe/ $100 Gift Card
On the Card: Create the Nu Yu with professional styling tools and hair extensions using your exclusive $100 NuMe gift card!
My Thoughts: This gift card is useless. You are restricted on what you can actually use the gift card for and everything on the site is way over $100. I am not going to pay $40 for a straightener I dont need just to use this gift card. I wish that Glymm had put another sample in this month's box instead of this stupid gift certificate.
This month's box was a huge letdown compared to last month's box and I am really hoping that next month they get it togther and start sending out boxes like they used to when they first started.
Cost of this month's box - $10
Value of this month's box w/ gift card - $132.99
Value of this month's box w/o gift card - $32.99
Disclaimer - This box was bought with my own money. All thoughts and opinions are honest and my own. I am not being compensated for this review.
