February Glymm Box

I didn't really have high expectations for this month's Glymm Box. Having been disappointed for the last few months I am really not excited anymore about getting my Glymm Box. This month did come with two full size products but they are drugstore brands, so they are really nothing special to me. The other two samples were extremely small samples of products I am not really interested in trying.

Another disappointment this month was that my replacement product was not sent to me. Last month my Vasanti product arrived empty and I was promised a replacement product. I did not receive it and after a strongly worded email they promised to send me one next month. I guess we will see but I'm not holding my breathe.

Something else I wanted to talk about this month was the Glymm Facebook page. They have made it so that their followers cannot post openly on their Wall. We are limited to only commenting on what Glymm posts. I have my opinions about this, but that's not what this post is about. Ultimately, I feel like the Customer Service with Glymm is slipping and so is the Quality and Quantity of the boxes from month to month. I keep saying every month that maybe Glymm will redeem themselves and again we will see. They have until November to win me back, but right now I am not re-subscribing. With so many other subscription services giving constantly good products and brands I am thinking my money will be better spent elsewhere.

 Sula Natural Shadow
Sample Value: $8.00 for 0.15 oz
Full Size: $8.00 for 0.15 oz
On the Card: Keep your eyes looking flirty fresh with this trendy, easy-to-use Sula Beauty shadow. Enjoy playfully pretty eye shadow in gorgeous colors. They're long lasting, easy to blend and made with natural ingredients.
My Thoughts: This shadow is a cream shadow, a paint pot like product, and green. Not the color I would have bought for myself which I guess is what this subscription service is about, getting to try products we normally wouldn't pick for ourselves. However, I will probably never use this product. I never really wear greens because I don't know how to make them look good. This may force me to start trying things out of my comfort zone or it may just sit in a drawer and never be used. The consistency is okay, not as creamy as a MAC Paint pot or as pigmented as the Color Tattoos. I really wish I had gotten the pink or purple powder shadow that other people got.

 Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm
Sample Size: $7.99 for 4.25g
Full Size: $7.99 for 4.25g
On the Card: This Tinted Lip Balm by Burt's Bees gives your lips a hint of color with a soft sweet flavor. It was also voted Best New Lip Product by Consumers. It's made with natural ingredients that moisturize and condition your lips. This stuff really is the 'balm'.
My Thoughts: This is the second month that we received Burt's Bees products and I don't know how I feel about that. Last month I HATED the lotion that I got, but I am happy so far with the Lip Balm. I like the Coral color that I received and the smell and taste is okay so I will wear this. However, I really didn't need anymore lip products, as I am literally swimming in them already. Although this is a good color and product, I don't like that it is again a drugstore product that is nothing really special.

GlamGlow Tingling and Exfoliating Mud Mask
Sample Value: $10.92 for 7mL
Full Size: $78.00 for 50mL
On the Card: Lights, Camera, Action! Designed for Hollywood's entertainment industry, it tingles, tightens & lightens in 15 minutes, so you're always camera-ready. Volcanic rock, French Sea Clay and real pieces of Green Tea Leaf will give you super sexy, super radiant skin.
My Thoughts: I am not really a mask person. Sometimes I get into moods where I use face masks regularly and other times I never use them. I am wary to try this mask because I have heard such good things about it, even before receiving it in this month's box. If it is really good and I fall in love with it it sucks because it is so expensive. We also got in this box a coupon code to get this mask full size on the Glymm website for only $50.00. Maybe if I like this I will use my points and splurge to get this mask. Side note: I actually saw this product at Winners in my home town a few weeks ago for only $39.99.

Mai Couture 2-1 Oil Blotting/Bronzing Papier
Sample Value: $0.48 for 2 sheets
Full Size Value: $24 for 100 sheets
On the Card: Beauty on-the-go? Mai Couture has the solution. This lightly powdered paper eliminates oil and gives your complexion a shimmery glow. No need to worry about carrying your makeup bag and brushes around with you all day. grab a 'papier' and keep your face flawless.
My Thoughts: This has got to be the stupidest sample I have ever received. I am really pale so there is no way I am going to be able to use these without looking muddy. And they are so shimmery; who likes shimmer in a bronzer?? Not me. I will never use these. I wish I had gotten the blush sheets that others got or maybe just a different sample entirely.

Overall this box was a huge disappointment, and I can't honestly promote them this month when the other subscription services were a million times better. And this months box was late because one of the samples arrived late, can't imagine what it was and it definitely wasn't worth the box being late.

Price of February's Box - $10
Value of February's Box - $27.39 (roughly)

Disclaimer - This box was purchased with my own money. All opinions are honest and my own.

NOTD: One Part Sweet Heart, One Part Bridezilla

I wanted a break from crazy colored nail polishes so I chose to 2 pale pink colors. OPIs Sweet Heart and China Glaze's Bridezilla. I really liked how this combo looked, but the next day my nails started to get a yellow tinge in the middle of them. I don't know if it was the base coat or the top coat I used but, something was making the yellowing happen.

What's your favourite pink nail polish? Let me know in the comments below.

Julep Maven "It Girl" Introductory Box

For the last 6-7 months I have been subscribed to monthly subscription boxes like Loose Button and Glymm. After reading many reviews about Julep Maven I found a Coupon Code on Gaby's Beauty Blog for an Introductory Box for only $5.00 instead of the regular monthly cost of $19.99. I am a huge nail polish junkie so I thought that some Full Size Nail Polishes for only $5 was a great deal.

I signed up for the website and took the quiz. It said that I had Bohemian Style and suggested that I get the Boho Introductory Box. However, I didn't really like the colors in that box and I didn't want the Hand Scrub I believe was also offered. I chose to buy the It Girl Box which came with 4 different full size Julep Nail Polishes.

Overall, I was pleased with the box at the $5 price but I would never pay $19.99 for this box. The actual size of the polish is very small and I feel that since nail polish is so personal I wouldn't trust that my money would actually get me polishes I would actually wear.

If you are interested in subscribing click the link below to take the quiz and sign up.

Here are picture of the box and colors that I received.

Fast Dry Top Coat

Leah - grass green with shimmer

Hayden - neon peach creme

Meagan - shimmery aquamarine

I Don't Haul, I Hoard.

I contemplated for a while what to call my "haul" posts when I share them with you. Some people call them hauls, or purchases, but in all honesty I never really just go and buy a couple products a month or at a time. When I shop I am almost OCD about it. Having to get everything that is either on sale, or a good price. Or I find something and have to buy 1 of every colour. Shopping is therapeutic to me. If I am stressed I shop cause new things make me happy. I know I have a problem, but I accept that I do and I am trying to be get better with it.

So I guess, going forward, I am going to call my "haul" posts the title you see above, and this is the first one of many I will probably be sharing on here. I may do review posts on some of the products below, eventually, but if there is a product that you would like for me to definitely review leave me a comment below.

Enjoy!

Video & Picture Love

Just wanted to share two of my favourite things right now.

Enjoy!

Beautiful isn't it? Really want to try and re-create this!

January Project 10 Pan

I was bad again this month. I hauled...sorry... hoarded a bunch of products and didnt use up as many as I bought. And again this month I didnt use up an makeup products. I have been trying really hard to finish up products, but after a while of using the same thing over and over I get bored and start using something else. I mean there are only so many days in a row that I can do a smokey eye, or bold liner, or neutral eyes. I am so close though to using up some makeup products that I think my project 10 pan post next month will finally include some.

I also am going through my collection and picking out things that I am just going to throw away. I know that I spent money on these products and it's kind of a waste to throw them out but, they are just things that I have had for too long and are not hygenic anymore, or products that I can honestly say I will never use again. I am thinking of doing a separate blog post on those products... like a products i regret buying post.

Here are the products that I used up this month:

Herbal Essences Body Envy 2 in 1 Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner
Repurchase: Yes
My Thoughts: I really like Herbal Essences shampoos and conditioners and when I buy them I usually buy the 2 in 1 bottles because I am too lazy for the 2 steps required when they are separate. I like buying these shampoos because they are really inexpensive at Walmart and I like how they make my hair feel. I dont usually buy the same kind everytime, I like to buy a different one of the smaller bottles because I get bored of the same shampoo all the time. I definitely recommened this shampoo for someone looking for more volume. My hair is naturally wavy and this really helps promote that.
Replacement Product: John Freida Brilliant Brunette Shampoo and Conditioner

Clean & Clear Deep Cleaning Astringent
Repurchase: Yes
My Thoughts:  This is a type of product that I always buy. I dont always buy the same brand or kind but I always have astringent at home. I use it in the morning to cleanse my face before I put my makeup on. Just to get rid of any oils and residual makeup. I always buy oil-free astringents because I have such oily skin and I dont want to add to it. I found this kind though, very harsh and over drying, it felt like my skin made more oils to make up for this product. The current one that I am using is made for sensitive skin and so far I am liking it.
Replacement Product: Clean & Clear Astringent for sensitive skin.

Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream Rinse Off Formula
Repurchase: No
My Thoughts: This was actually a deluxe sample that I got in one of my Clinique Bonus Time Gift with Purchases. It is just okay, in my opinion. Because it isn't the type made for my skin it was a little too moisturizing for my skin and it felt like there was a film on my skin after I used it. The exfoliating quality was nice but not harsh enough for my skin. It was nice to try and lasted me a lot longer than 7 days but, it isn't something I can see replacing my Holy Grail Exfoliator.
Replacement Product: St. Ives Apricot Scrub.

What products did you use up this month? Let me know in the comments below.

Disclaimer: All products were bought by me with my own money except for the Clinique which was gifted with purchase. All opinions are honest and my own.
