Boxing Day Haul 2012

If you haven't seen my No-Buy Inventory Page definitely check it out. And if you have seen it then you probably know that I didn't need to buy anything on Boxing Day, cause I have more then enough stuff. However, I have a problem and I know that so I was up at 5am to go shopping and was home by 10 with everything I wanted plus a few extras.

Here is what I picked up. I tried to find all the original and sale prices so I could post them underneath. I forgot to take a picture of what I bought at Aeropostale so I will add in pictures off the website.

I got this lace sweater in a cream colour because I already have many sweaters in this colour.
Original Price - $54.50
Sale Price - $20

At Old Navy I found a rack of coloured and patterned pants on sale and picked up three pairs. I also found a neutral light brown chunky knit sweater on sale.
Sale Price of Pants - $9.97 to $14.99
Sale Price of Sweater - $20

I always pick up some DVDs at Walmart on Boxing Day. This year I picked up Jersey Shore Season 5 and Wrath of the Titans for $10 each. I bought The Lucky One for $5 and Brides Maids for $7.

Sweat Pea 3 wick Candle - $5.63
Aromatherapy Sleep Pillow Mist - $3.18
Paris Amour Rollerball Perfume - $4.83
Hand Sanitizer - $2.18
Cinnamon Frosting Bulb - $1.75
Peach Bellini Bulb - $1.75

13 piece brush set - on sale for $7

Garnier Moisturizer Gift Set - on sale for $7

Garnier BB Cream and Dark Circle Roller Gift Set - on sale for $9.50 each

Travalo - not on sale - $12.99
Quo 6 piece Lip Gloss Set - on sale for $10
Quo All About the Eyes Palette - on sale for $11

Nivea Skincare Set. This is what I originally went to Walmart for. The set was originally on sale for $14 which I thought was a good deal. But on Boxing Day they were on sale for $7. I bought three of them and almost had to fight some lady for them lol

I bought this lip crayon kit on a whim because it was on sale for $4.50. I swatched a few and they seem glossy but somewhat sheer.

And lastly I bought a Coach wallet to match the purse that I bought last year. It was 50% off, then 30%, then 10%. It was definitely a splurge item but that is what Christmas money is for and this wallet will last me a long time.

What I Got For Christmas 2012

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope that Santa was good to all of you and that your Christmas brought lots of great times with friends and family. I have been watching many YouTube videos like this and thought I would do a quick post of what I got for Christmas this year.

I want to put in a quick disclaimer that this post is by no means me bragging about what I received. It is simply me sharing some of the things that I got. This is also not everything I got this year. I am only sharing what my wonderful boyfriend got me, as well as, some of the beauty and blog relevant things that my parents got me. They really went overboard this year. So thank you Mom, Dad, and Brian!

First is my stocking from Brian. He got me this really cute winter moose stuffed animal. Now the bunny I got for Easter has a friend lol

Next I got a bunch of my favourite chocolates.

He did very well picking out some magazines for me...after I told him which ones I like to read.

These three gifts were ones that I specifically asked for this year. First is JK Rowling's new book. I have been waiting forever to read this. Second is CSI Season 12 on DVD. I am a CSI freak so naturally I needed this season for my collection. Plus I missed a lot of the episodes so I need to get caught up. And lastly, was the 2013 Calendar of Awesome. Like the famous Book of Awesome this daily calendar gives you a story about something awesome every day of the year. Some of the good ones I might share on here.

And finally Brian got me this beautiful white gold and diamond heart necklace from Mappins. This was a total surprise and I may have cried when I opened it lol. These pictures do not do this necklace justice. It is feminine and dainty and totally me.

The first beauty related item I received from my parents was this lace decorated train case. I have been looking for a train case for ages and now I finally have one. The size is perfect and it holds so much stuff. This one is by Caboodles and they got it in the States.

I wanted to buy the NYX "All I've Ever Wanted" palette on Black Friday at Rexall and I must have talked about it enough because my Mom snuck out and bought it for me. It literally contains all you could ever want or need. I don't need to buy eye shadows or blushes for at least a year now.

This was the only thing I asked my Mom to buy me. It is from Costco and it's the Kirkland Makeup Remover Wipes. This box comes with 150 wipes in resealable containers.

My stocking from my parents came full of little goodies. Inside there was:
 - Bubble Bath
- Dove Deodorant
- St Ives Face Scrub
 - Tresemme Dry Shampoo
- Owl Contact Lens Case
 - Cotton Pads for removing nail polish
 - Toothbrush
 - Lady Speed Stick Deodorant
- Bobby Pins

A Few Christmas Things

As I was sitting at work totally bored (shhhh don't tell my boss) I thought hey I should use this time to blog, but how do I blog on my iPad? Welcome Blogger App to my world, you have made me a very happy lady.

In this post I wanted to share a few Christmas things from my house and my boyfriends house. I also wanted to shamelessly promote my Mom's home decor blog "The Creative Me and My McG". Definitely check her out if you like DIY and home decor ideas on a budget. http://thecreativemeandmymcg.blogspot.ca

I must also give credit to my Mom because I am using some pictures from her Facebook for this post. Thanks Mom!!!! :)

I have included pictures of the trees at both my house and my boyfriends.

Me and my mom baked up a storm on my last day off. We made 14 dozen cookies and then watched Classic Christmas shows, which I own on DVD.

My Mom made up some new stockings this year. These super cute stockings come from Dollarama and she added everyone's names to the top using gold glitter puff paint.

And of course I had to add a picture of our baby Sloan. This picture is of him under the Christmas tree last year. He loves playing with the ribbon on the presents. I seriously have the cutest cat ever!

I hope you enjoyed seeing a little bit of my Christmas this year. Stay tuned for the rest of my Revlon Selects reviews, as well as, Christmas and Boxing Day haul.

Revlon Selects: Nail Art Expressionist & Moon Candy Review

Hey ladies! I am here with my first Revlon Selects Review! A few weeks ago on the Revlon Canada Facebook Page they were looking for fans of their page to sign up to possibly win 1 of 500 prize packs. The prize packs as can be seen above would include 5 brand new products to be tried and reviewed. I was so excited to sign up and possibly be chosen as I am a huge fan of Revlon Products. In the end I was chosen as one of the lucky 500 and I received my package the other day.

It seems that everyone got the same colours and although they are all beautiful it would have been nice to see some variation. In this post I am going to be talking about the two nail polishes and file we received and I will review the lipstick and eyeshadow palette in future posts once I have more time to try them out.

The first nail item I received was the Revlon Nail Art Expressionist in Vincent Van Gold. The concept behind this product is that you use the Purple shade on all of your nails and then use the Gold shade to make lines or dots. The gold shade comes with a very thin nail art brush that can be used to do any sort of nail art or detail work.

What I Liked
 - The ease of use. Even someone like me who can't do nail art to save her life can create lines and dots easily and with little to no effort.
- The gold colour is beautiful.  I have nothing like it in my collection and I can see myself painting all of my nails with this shade.
- The size of the nail polish is perfect. It is small enough that you can bring it on the go with you but there is still a ton on product and you will get a lot of manicures before the bottles are empty.
- The colour combination is spot on. The purple polish sometimes looks blue and I think that gold compliments both of these shades well.

What I Didn't Like
- Although I like the colours I have some many purples like this already so it would have been nice to get a colour I didn't have.
- The purple colour needs about 3 coats to match how it looks in the bottle. With three coats it takes such a long time to dry so you have to wait a while before you can use the gold on top.
- When trying to paint stripes with the gold, because of how it is packaged, it is bulky to hold in your hands.

Would I Purchase?
I would re-purchase this product and might look for some other colour combinations.
Here is the purple swatched with 2 very thick coats.

Here is the gold swatched with 2 coats. I just made a simple striped design to show you how it looks on the nail.
Next I received the Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy polish in the shade Orbit. It comes with a dark purple shade for all over your nails and a flakie top coat. In the bottle the top coat looks slightly pink with flakes that change from gold to pink to a light blue. The concept of this duo is that when the flakie top coat is applied it makes your nails look like galaxy nails.

What I Liked
- This colour combo is totally up my alley. Both shades are beautiful in the bottle and on the nail.
- The colour payoff on the purple is amazing. You only need 1 coat for it to be completely opaque and smooth. No streaks with this polish.
- The flakie top coat can be used over any polish to get a different look.

What I Didn't Like
- The only complaint I really have with this product is that the top coat doesn't have enough flakes in it. I really had to glop on the polish to get any flakes on the nail. I also had to get flakes on the brush and place them on the nail because it was just becoming a total mess. The final result looked good at some angles but when I tried to photograph it it just looks awful. I could not get a good picture.

Would I Purchase?
Probably not. If I want a flakie top coat I would probably pick up one from Essie.
This is 3-4 thick layers swatched. As you can see alone the moon candy half doesn't really look like anything on the nail. And even with 4 coats there are barely any flakes on the nail.
This is 2 coats of the purple shade swatched. It is such a pretty colour by itself and I will probably use it by itself in the future.
Believe it or not this is the best picture I could get of the duo used together. It was just a mess. The flakes are uneven and lot of them wouldn't lie flat so the end result was bumpy and gross. You really can't see the effects of the flakes but even in person I couldn't see it either.

Lastly, in the nail category I received a Diamond Collection Nail File. I was so happy that I received a purple one as purple is my favourite colour. This file has a normal file looking side and a purple glittery side. I don't normally use files so I can't give a really in depth review, but it is pretty hard to mess up a file so I am sure this works great. If/When I try this out if I am majorly impressed or unimpressed I will write another little review.

All-in-all what I used so far has been pretty good. I want to thank Revlon for choosing me as a Revlon Select and I hope to be chosen again if they do this again in the future.

If you received a Revlon Selects box what did you think of the polishes?

Liebster, Liebster, Liebster

I've been nominated for a Liebster Award before and in the past few months I have been nominated for three more by some lovely ladies behind some wonderful blogs. After seeing my most recent nomination this morning by Nat I figured that it was time to do my acceptance post. I really liked the format in which she did hers, so I am going to adopt that style into this post.

First of all I would like to give a shout out and thanks to the ladies who nominated me! Nat from glossy, Zoe from My Wondrous Marvellous Obsession, and Cheryl from The Creative Me and My McG. All of these blogs are ones I read on a daily basis and come packed full of great reviews, DIY, hauls, home decor, etc.

I'm doing a shortcut version of this acceptance post. I'm only going to be answering the questions that each of the other bloggers asked in their post. Normally the rules are you link back to the person who nominated you. You write 11 facts about yourself, answer the 11 questions asked of you and then ask the people you nominate to answer 11 questions.

Now onto answering the questions.

Nat asked...

  1. Who is your celebrity guy crush? I don't really have a celebrity guy crush. My favourite male actors though are Bruce Willis, Ian Somerhalder, Norman Reedus, Alexander Skarsgard, and Hugh Jackman.
  2. What makeup essentials do you wear on a daily basis? I am always wearing at least concealer, powder, mascara, and lip balm.
  3. What is your favourite pair of shoes? I have a pair of brown high heel boots that I love but a more functional choice would probably have to be flats of any kind.
  4. If you can change 1 thing about yourself, what would it be? To not have to wear contacts or glasses anymore
  5. How often do you shop for makeup? Too often...lol
  6. What is the one thing (beauty item) you have an excessive amount of? Lip products and eyeshadows.
  7. What do you enjoy most about blogging? Finding new blogs to read and getting comments. It is nice knowing that people are enjoying what I am writing.
  8. What is your favourite movie? Beauty and the Beast.
  9. If you can be one fictional character who would you be? I would want to be someone in the Women of the Underworld Series, the world of X-men, or a character on the Walking Dead.
  10. If you could choose the decade you'd want to live in right now, what would it be? I would choose the decade I am in know because I am so happy where my life is at right now.
  11. If you could shop at only 1 store for clothing for the rest of your life, what store would it be? Hard choice, it's tied between Old Navy, Target, and Maurices.

Zoe asked...

1. Reason behind your blog's name? My old blog name industrial dime store magic was a combination of my two favourite Kelley Armstrong novels. My new blog name my beauty full adventure describes more of what my blog is about. I'm still somewhat new to the world of beauty products and by following my blog you get to come along with me on my beauty full adventure.
2. What animal would you be and why? A panther because they are strong and beautiful creatures.
3. Mac or Windows? Both. I have a Windows laptop and an Apple Ipad
4. Favourite Drugstore Make Up Brand. Revlon..hands down
5. Favourite TV show at the moment and why? The Walking Dead. I like Distopian books and concepts and this show is just that. The characters are amazingly written and portrayed and I watch it cause one day the world as we know may be like the show and I need to be prepared lol
6. How did you celebrate your last birthday?  I went out to dinner and a movie with my boyfriend.
7. What book are you reading at the moment and would you recommend it? Right now I am reading The Postmistress but I am only a couple chapters in so I don't know if I would recommend it yet.
8. Countryside or City life? City Life
9. Guilty Pleasure Food? Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream
10. Sample Boxes, yay or nay? Yay originally, but now I have too much and I really don't think they are worth the money, so Nay.
11. What will you be doing at 11am tomorrow?  I will be blogging again, or shopping because it is my day off.

Cheryl asked...

1. How long have you been blogging?  A year and a few months
2. What influenced you to decide to become a blogger? I enjoyed reading other peoples blogs so much that I thought I should start one of my own. I like reviewing and trying out new products.
3..Dogs or Cats? I love my cat Sloan but one day I want a puppy. My boyfriend said we could get one when we get our own place :)
4. What is your favourite season? Fall.
5. Do you have any hobbies, besides blogging? Reading, watching TV, painting my nails, shopping

11. Do you prefer Mayo or Miracle Whip?
Neither but if I had to choose I would pick Miracle Whip.

NOTD: Revlon Emerald City

As soon as I saw this nail polish in Dollarama I knew I had to have it. It is a beautiful emerald green with tons of green glitter throughout. The nail polish hoarder in me just couldn't put it down. When I got home and took the price sticker off I realized that it is a Matte Suede polish. This is the first matte polish in my collection and I love it!

I was so afraid that the glitter would cease to be glittery, but it kept enough shimmer to it. It gives the polish a textured look. The only downside I found to this polish was that if you don't have a matte top coat you cant put one on without losing the matte-ness of the polish. And without a top coat I found this polish chipped easily. I had very noticeable tip wear on day two. I might invest in a top coat on Boxing Day if I can find one on sale.

I am so happy that I keep finding Revlon polishes at Dollarama as I love the formulations, colours, and staying power, but can't afford to pay full price right now. Revlon has quickly become one of my favourite polish brands.

During December I'm going to share some Christmas things with you from around my home, as well as, some Awesome things about the Christmas season! This was my view while blogging today, the Christmas tree is in its first stages of decoration and the Lions game is on for the boyfriend. Its been a great December 2nd so far!
