NOTD: Revlon Whimsical

Going through some older picture files I found an old NOTD I was planning for the Summer. This post is only a few months late but I guess better late then never. This manicure is using two coats of Orly Jealous Much with two coats of Revlon Whimsical.

I didn't overly like how this manicure turned out because I think that the Orly polish is too teal. I want to find the perfect blue to use as a base for Whimsical because alone it is just too sheer. In the bottle this Revlon polish is one of my favourites but on the nail it is so disappointing. Even with two and three coats you can still see my nail underneath. I would use this polish more if it was more opaque.

What I really like about Whimsical though is the glitter. The light pink and blue bigger glitter looks nice sparsely over the nail. And there is also iridescent glitter that reflects blue that covers more of the nail, but I find you can't really see it unless you look closer at the nail.

If you like sheer glitter polishes then I would definitely say pick up Whimsical, however if you like an opaque polish then make sure to pick up a base polish as well.

 

 



I'm back with a Sephora/Target Haul!

Hey ladies, sorry I've been gone so long. This month has just not been good for blogging. I was working a lot at the beginning of the month and then I got the flu which lasted two weeks, then I was out of town. But enough with excuses I'm back and ready to get back into blogging full force.

Last weekend me and the BF went shopping across the border. We went mainly to Christmas shop but I also did some shopping for myself. It was my first time going to Sephora and I did a little damage but not as much as I could have. I just treated myself to a few goodies :)

First stop was Target. I only picked up a few things because I wanted to save my money for Sephora. I found this really pretty Jemma Kidd Neutral Palette on sale for only $18 but I resisted (I did really want it though lol).

I picked up the ELF Tinted Moisturizer to try because my current foundation is almost empty. After trying it on my hand it seems nice. Very lightweight with sheer coverage, but I should be able to build it up without it looking cakey.

On the way to the cash register I saw this EOS lip balm in a pomegranate raspberry flavour. I love these lip balms and a have a few different ones already, but thought this would be a good addition to the collection.

This little Benefit Kit was the main reason I wanted to go to Sephora. I've always wanted to try some Benefit products so I thought this would be the perfect kit. If only I could have walked away with just this.

Sephora is really good at putting little value sets right at the cash register, so while you are waiting to pay you will pick up more things. I've seen reviews of this trio on both blogs and YouTube so when I saw it sitting there calling my name I just had to add it to the basket.

This Tokidoki palette was on sale for only $3 and it contains four purple and silver eye shadows as well as a shimmery pink blush.

The Sephora Smokey Kohl liners were on sale as well so I picked one up in purple and black. They have a really cool triangle shape and I'm excited to try them out.

The mini Urban Decay Primer Potion was at the checkout as well and it easily fell right into the basket. This is a beauty blogger favourite and we'll see if it becomes one of mine.

The sales lady at the checkout counter actually talked me into this and after I bought it I had buyers remorse and kinda wanted to return it. But now that I've got it home I'm glad I bought it. It comes with every form of eyeliner that there is and I am sure it will last me a year before I have to buy another black eyeliner.

This kit has a funny story behind it. I have been researching The Body Shop skincare for sometime and actually had a sales associate talk to me about it but I didn't buy it. At Great Lakes Crossing I spun the Deal Wheel and was given a coupon for $10 off coupon. I almost bought this skincare kit and it was going to cost me $30. I didn't buy it cause I didn't want to spend that much.Then the whole day I talked to the BF about how I should've bought it cause it was a good deal. In Sephora on the clearance rack I saw the same kit for only $19! It became mine super quick and I cant wait to try it out.

GlossyBox October 2012

So after cancelling in July and not receiving a box in August, when I saw that people were getting a full size NYX palette in September I quickly re-signed up. I didn't do a post on my September box because I got it so late. I decided to stay signed up for this month because I was getting it at the $15 price still. I cancelled again, however, for  November because I want to make sure that they are consistently sending out great boxes before I commit to spending $21 a month on samples.

This months box was, in my opinion, amazing. We got almost $80 worth of stuff for only $15, and 50 lucky people got a $50 piece of jewellery in their box. I wasn't one of the lucky 50 but I still love everything I received. This months box came with a product card that was in both English and French, as well as, a coupon for shaving gel, 10% off Caroline Neron jewellery, and a information booklet about Jouviance products.

My Thoughts - I'm glad that these are bigger samples and not foil packets but I am kind of getting tired of getting shampoo and conditioner samples in beauty boxes. These samples have a perfume scent and are supposed to give my hair more shine. I am excited to see if this will work.

My Thoughts - This product shade was made exclusively for GlossyBox members in the perfect pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month. I screamed when I saw this product because it is so cute yet functional. It has a mirror on the tube for application on the go and the colours are just amazing. The light pink gloss with silver and gold shimmer smells like candy. And the lipstick is such a me colour. I would never pay $38.75 for a lip duo so I am so glad it was included in this months box.

My Thoughts - I don't need an anti-aging cream just yet but I always love face cream samples cause they last a long time and give you more time before having to buy a full size. However, this sample tube is practically empty I had to squeeze the enitre tube down in order to get a little bit out.

My Thoughts - I love getting nail polish in boxes and I'm glad that we got another Zoya polish because I loved the last one that I got. As you can tell by the swatch (which is actually 2 coats) this is an extremely sheer pink shade. I think that it will be perfect for a french manicure or when I want a nude nail.

My Thoughts - I love getting razors in boxes and for free from companies because razors are so expensive. This one looks like it is going to be super moisturizing so I am excited to try it out.

NOTD: Halloween Orange Foil

After a very long weekend at work I didn't have much time or energy for a nail art Halloween manicure. I originally wanted to paint ghosts or pumpkins on my nails but, lack of sleep and laziness got the best of me. As I was going through my nail polish collection I found the perfect polish for Halloween. It is Tivoli Cosmetics Orange Foil polish. I found this polish in a 4 pack at Dollarama for $2 and picked it up on a whim cause the hoarder in me cant say no to nail polish.

I can't find anything about this brand online and the bottles didn't have names, so I named this one myself. Since it is an orange foil I named it Orange Foil. I don't think I would ever get a job as a nail polish name with that sense of creativity lol.

This polish had a horrible smell, way worse then even the worse smelling nail polish you have ever used. But it was opaque in one coat and went on streak free. In the bottle this colour was beautiful but on the nails it is stunning. It reminded me of the aluminum wrapping on those chocolate balls you can buy for Halloween, with the pumpkin faces on them. I did two coats of polish with 1 coat of Seche Vite and I am so happy with the results. To me this screams Halloween, but I can see myself wearing this all throughout the year.

 I am loving foil, chrome, and liquid metal polishes for Fall and this is just another one for the collection. A great buy for only $0.50! Ive been wearing it for 3 days now and I have minimal tip wear and no chipping. Great quality for a dollar store polish.

NOTD: Kozmic Colours "Worlds End"

This is another one of those Dollorama $1 polishes that I got as part of my Fall Haul. The first two I have shown already Outta Line and Shufflin' had amazing colour payoff, longevity, and formula. Worlds End is no different. This medium toned blue cream polish goes on so easily, with absolutely no streaking. You really only need one coat for it to be fully opaque, but I always do at least two coats when I do my manicures. The glossiness of this polish was really good even without a topcoat. I decided to use Seche Vite Topcoat.

The wear time of this polish was a little less than the others ones I've tried. I had some tip wear by day two, but there wasn't any major chipping. This has been one of my favourite blue polishes I've worn in awhile. It is definitely in my Top 5 favourite blue polishes. If you can get your hands on this polish from Dollarama, don't hesitate just buy, you wont be disappointed.

 

 

What's in my Overnight Bag??

I've seen many different variations of this post but thought while packing my overnight bag that I should do my first "What's in my bag?" post. I slept over at my boyfriends last night so I packed extremely light. Normally I would pack more but seeing as I was just 10 minutes away from home I didn't think I needed that much.

Here is everything that I had in my toiletry bag. When I travel I like to bring sample sizes of almost everything in order to use up my sample stash before they go bad.

Although this toiletry bag works well for small trips, when I go away for more then a couple days it just doesn't do. I found a great train case at Walmart, it's on my Christmas List so hopefully I get it.

NOTD: Butter London Fairy Lights

In my Fall Haul I showed some Butter London polishes that I bought using my points on the Glymm website. I ended up getting 3 polishes for only $7.00 which is a steal because they each go for $17-$18. I always see these on sale in The Bay, but their price tag always has me walking away empty handed.

Fairy Lights was part of the Christmas Collection last year I believe, and is a light pink metallic polish. Or maybe it is considered a chrome?? I never know the difference when I am trying to describe polishes on here. The Butter London website describes this polish as:

Be a beacon to bad boys and the life of the party in dazzling limited edition “liquid metal” rose pink.

 

Swatches that I saw online I liked a lot more than how this polish looks on my nails. I used two coats for this mani but next time I may try three coats and see if I like it more. Overall I am impressed with the quality of this polish, its colour payoff and lasting power are worth the price.
