Influenster #MysteryBrand Revealed! Garnier Fructis Damage Eraser

A week ago I posted about Influenster's most recent Canadian Campaign: The L'Oreal Mystery Brand VoxBox. If you would like to see that first impressions post click here.

Based on product smell and some Google sleuthing, I had guessed that the mystery product was going to be Garnier's new Damage Eraser line. Yesterday, a big white box showed up in the mail which confirmed that I was correct in my guessing. Inside the box was the complete, full-size line of Garnier Damage Eraser products. The line includes: fortifying shampoo, fortifying conditioner, split ends bandage serum, and strength reconstructing butter.

This line boasts that it is great for dry, damaged hair, which is exactly what I have. However, my hair also gets extremely oily, extremely quickly at the scalp. I like to say I have combination hair. Read below to learn more about this line, and my thoughts on each of the products.

Fortifying Shampoo

"Want to bring back strength, vitality & shine to damaged hair? Reconstruct hair's strength for strong hair that looks rejuvenated. The formula contains Phyto-Keratin complex, with plant-based proteins and active fruit concentrate, and cupuacu butter, with natural lipids. It works in two ways to strengthen and rejuvenate the look of hair."

This shampoo smells amazing, the whole line does! It lathers quite well, and my hair feels clean once I rinse it out, but not dried out. Although it is a good shampoo, it is nothing miraculous. I get similar results from Herbal Essences and other drugstore shampoos.

Fortifying Conditioner

"Want to bring back strength, vitality & shine to damaged hair? Reconstruct hair's strength for strong hair that looks rejuvenated. The formula contains Phyto-Keratin complex, with plant-based proteins and active fruit concentrate, and cupuacu butter, with natural lipids. It works in two ways to strengthen and rejuvenate the look of hair."

The real magic happens with this conditioner. It has quite a thicker consistency than most other drugstore conditioners, and works well at replenishing the moisture that my dry, damaged hair needs. I use this only on the ends of my hair. It rinses out easily, and leaves my hair feeling soft, manageable, and tangle free.

Split Ends Bandage Serum

"Formulated with Phyto-Keratin complex and cupuacu butter, each drop helps prevent split ends and reconstructs and preserves hair's strength. Apply on towel-dried hair to fragile or damaged areas. Do not rinse out."

This has been the magic step for me within this line. Once I am out of the shower, I brush through my hair, ring out any excess water, and apply a nickel to quarter sized amount to the ends of my hair. I find this serum is too moisturizing to use on my whole head. My hair dries, and I am left with soft, shiny, frizz-free hair. Most days I don't style my hair, but it looks great with this product so I don't have too. When I straighten my hair I have less fly-aways and frizz.

Strength Reconstructing Butter

"This rich, indulgent butter is designed to intensely reconstruct hair's strength for strong, rejuvenated and shiny-looking hair. After shampooing, apply to wet hair from root to tip. Leave on for 3 to 5 minutes. Rinse."

This was a surprise item in the box, as we hadn't previously received a sample of this product. I am not normally a fan/user of hair masks, because I am too lazy to take the time. However, I am willing to try anything to hep with frizz, so I am going to be using this during my next spa day routine. I will report back with my thoughts once I have used this product.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with this Influenster Campaign, and I'm so excited to bring life back to my hair with these products. If you would like to sign up for Influenster, for a chance to be part of the next Campaign, then email me at mybeautyfulladventure@hotmail.com and I will send you an invite.

First Impressions - The L'Oreal Canada Mystery VoxBox

About two weeks ago I received an email, informing me that I was selected to possibly be part of the next Canadian Voxbox, from Influenster. Influenster is a word of mouth marketing website that sends out free products, to its most influential members, in exchange for reviews shared over all aspects of social media. The more you share the higher your meter climbs. The higher your meter the more likely you are to get the next Voxbox &/or extra goodies to try.

I completed the hair care survey, but was told that unfortunately I had not qualified for this Voxbox. Just a few days ago, however, I received a red Influenster box in the mail. Inside were three unmarked L'Oreal products: a shampoo, conditioner, and split-end serum.
The card states that this is a two part Voxbox. First, we are to try the mystery products for one week, and complete a series of social media tasks trying to guess what the #MysteryBrand could be. Then in a weeks time we will receive the next box which will include the full size products, and the brand will be revealed.

After smelling the samples (for 10 minutes) I took to Google and searched key words/ingredients from the info card. My guess by smell alone was Garnier and Google confirmed that I had guessed correctly. I am 99% sure based on wording and ingredients that these are in fact products from the Garnier Damage Eraser line.

The line seems intriguing but I was a little skeptical, as I have yet to find a Garnier hair product I actually like. These samples blew my expectations out of the water! Not only do they smell great, and that scent lingers in my hair, but they leave my hair feeling smooth, and feeling silky. All without weighing it down. I have noticed a visible difference in the texture and amount of frizziness in my hair with only a couple uses.

I can't wait for the full size products to get here so that I can test out long time use. If is continues to impress me like it has, I will be buying this over and over again, whether it is Garnier or not.

Were you chosen for this #MysteryBrand Voxbox? If so, what are your thoughts on the products, and guesses as to what the brand is?

February Empties

So this post is a little late...but I guess better late than never! This month I was pretty successful in using up full size products. Next month I want to try and use up a bunch of samples that I still have kicking around.

eos Shave Cream in Vanilla Bliss
This shave cream is just OK. I don't find it moisturizing at all. I actually find that I need a lot of moisturizer after using this, because my legs are left so dry. It also clogs up the razor like crazy. The only thing I really like about this is the smell. Repurchase: No

St. Ives Apricot Cleanser
I bought this cleanser because I really like the St. Ives Apricot Scrub. However, I didn't really like this. I feel that it really didn't clean my skin and it left a residue that made me want to wash my face all over again. The consistency was weird and I had to force myself to use it up. Repurchase: No

B. Kamins Bio-Maple Lip Balm
I really hated this lip balm. I found that the ultra thick consistency turned really liquidy on the lips and I was eating more of it then what was staying on my lips. The smell and taste were off-putting and I am happy this tube is finally finished. Repurchase: No

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles
So this product isn't actually empty. The packaging on this sucks, in my opinion, and broke when a quarter of the product left. I depotted it cause I didn't want to just throw that much product away. I do like this concealer but I feel like the colour is a bit to dark for me. It does a great job at concealing under eye circles and other blemishes. I wish it was packaged differently. Repurchase: Maybe

Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat
This is my Holy Grail Top Coat! If  it was up to me I would only use this forever and ever but at its cost per mL my bank account wants me to find something cheaper. It leaves my nails super glossy and my mani's last at least a week. Repurchase: Yes

Korres White Tea Facial Cleanser
I found this cleanser to be very liquidy and non-foaming. I found I had to use double the amount of product because it kept slipping right through my fingers. I didn't overly love the smell and cleansing wise I wasn't wowed. A big step down considering how well the scrub worked. Repurchase: No.

Korres Pomegranate Scrub
I got this deluxe sample as part of a complete sample skincare set at Winners. I loved this scrub! The smell was amazing and so were the scrubby bits. It reminded me of the texture of the St. Ives Apricot Scrub. It left my skin feeling ultra clean and smooth. Repurchase: Yes, if I could find it on sale.

TRESemme Split Remedy Shampoo & Conditioner
I don't normally gravitate towards Tresemme products but I really enjoyed these samples. My hair smelt great and I noticed less fly aways and frizz. Repurchase: Yes

Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy Shampoo & Conditioner
This product has always intrigued me but I wasn't wowed by these samples. They really left something to be desired. However, I want to try them again for a longer period of time because they are a hair therapy duo, so one use isn't going to show instant results. Repurchase: Maybe

Have you used any of these products before? If so, what are your thoughts on them?

GlossyBox October 2012

So after cancelling in July and not receiving a box in August, when I saw that people were getting a full size NYX palette in September I quickly re-signed up. I didn't do a post on my September box because I got it so late. I decided to stay signed up for this month because I was getting it at the $15 price still. I cancelled again, however, for  November because I want to make sure that they are consistently sending out great boxes before I commit to spending $21 a month on samples.

This months box was, in my opinion, amazing. We got almost $80 worth of stuff for only $15, and 50 lucky people got a $50 piece of jewellery in their box. I wasn't one of the lucky 50 but I still love everything I received. This months box came with a product card that was in both English and French, as well as, a coupon for shaving gel, 10% off Caroline Neron jewellery, and a information booklet about Jouviance products.

Now onto the actual products/samples in this months Breast Cancer Awareness Box.

SEBASTIAN PROFESSIONAL TRILLIANCE SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER
Sample Value - 50mL/$3.16 & $3.32
Full Size - 250mL/$15.79 & 250mL/$16.59

On The Card - Cleanses and polishes the hair surface to enable greater light reflection, creating gorgeous natural shine.

My Thoughts - I'm glad that these are bigger samples and not foil packets but I am kind of getting tired of getting shampoo and conditioner samples in beauty boxes. These samples have a perfume scent and are supposed to give my hair more shine. I am excited to see if this will work.

MODELCO FLIPSTICK LIP DUO
Sample Value - $38.75
Full Size - $38.75

On The Card - SHINE Ultra Lip Gloss can be worn alone or layered over LIPSTICK Lip Couture for hours of unbeatable shine in a shade of perfect October pink!

My Thoughts - This product shade was made exclusively for GlossyBox members in the perfect pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month. I screamed when I saw this product because it is so cute yet functional. It has a mirror on the tube for application on the go and the colours are just amazing. The light pink gloss with silver and gold shimmer smells like candy. And the lipstick is such a me colour. I would never pay $38.75 for a lip duo so I am so glad it was included in this months box.

JOUVIANCE REJUVENATING ANTI-AGING CREAM NORMAL TO DRY SKIN TREATMENT
Sample Value - 5mL/$9.35
Full Size - 50mL/$93.50

On The Card - Extremely luxurious face cream, gently formulated to hydrate and increase the firmness of your skin.

My Thoughts - I don't need an anti-aging cream just yet but I always love face cream samples cause they last a long time and give you more time before having to buy a full size. However, this sample tube is practically empty I had to squeeze the enitre tube down in order to get a little bit out.

ZOYA
Colour - Loretta
Sample Value - $8
Full Size - $8

On The Card - We hand-picked four of the prettiest pinks to represent the diverse women affected by breast cancer all over the world. Toxin Free!

My Thoughts - I love getting nail polish in boxes and I'm glad that we got another Zoya polish because I loved the last one that I got. As you can tell by the swatch (which is actually 2 coats) this is an extremely sheer pink shade. I think that it will be perfect for a french manicure or when I want a nude nail.

GILLETTE VENUS
Sample Value - $16.99
Full Size - $16.99

On The Card - Venus & Olay: Boost your shave and help lock-in skin's moisture with the top-of-the-line in disposable razors.

My Thoughts - I love getting razors in boxes and for free from companies because razors are so expensive. This one looks like it is going to be super moisturizing so I am excited to try it out.

Overall Value of October's Box - $79.57!

  2. I get products that my whole family can use.
  3. Did I mention they are FREE!

If you are interested in signing up for the next BrandSampler Box then "Like" the P&G everyday Canada Facebook page to get updates on when the next one is available.

  1. Febreze Set & Refresh Starter Kit
  2. Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo
  3. Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal Conditioner
  4. Tide Pods
  5. Bounty Paper Towels
  6. Dawn Liquid Dish Soap

Also, after being in contact with Gwen on the P&G Facebook page, giving feedback about the sample selection process she kindly offered to send me a Venus Razor because I was not selected for this sample and it was the one I was looking forward too.

To my surprise when it came in the mail she had sent not 1 but 2 razors and a hand-written note! Thanks Gwen!

September Empties

September was a good month. I finished so many products and samples, and have to say I am very proud of myself. Slowly but surely I will be working through my hoard of beauty samples.

  •  Sebastian Volupt Shampoo - I got this is my first GlossyBox. This was just an okay shampoo though. I felt like it left my hair dry and tangled. I got no volume from this shampoo and it smelt absolutely gross. The smell also lingered in my hair so I found I had to spritz some perfume in my hair or put in some other scented hair product to cover it up. Repurchase = NO.
  • CO Bigelow Lemon Cream Body Wash - I picked this up on a whim during the last Bath & Body Works Sale. This is super moisturizing and my skin felt so hydrated after using it. I liked the lemon scent at first but after a while I didn't like smelling like a lemon  Repurchase = NO
  • Clean & Clear Deep Cleaning Astringent - I found this very drying on my skin and it smelt like nail polish remover. Repurchase = NO.
  •  NYC Lip Stain - The name of the color rubbed off so I don't know what it is, but I really liked this colour. It is a very soft, natural, light pink that is great for everyday wear. This stain wasn't overly drying, but I found myself reaching for a gloss or balm soon after applying. Repurchase = YES
  • Smashbox Mini Lip Gloss in After Glow - I got this sample in one of my first Luxe Boxes. I loved everything about this gloss. It went on smooth and wasn't sticky at all. It isn't empty but I'm pretty sure it has gone bad cause it is starting to smell horrible. Repurchase = YES
  • MAC Select Cover Up Concealer - Loved this! Hands down one of the best concealers I have ever used. Great coverage, isn't too heavy, and doesn't crease. Repurchase = YES
  • Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes - I cant remember which subscription box I got these in but I am not a huge fan of them. They removed makeup like a dream but they were extremely oily and left a gross residue on my face. Repurchase = NO
  •  Clinique Moisture Surge Sample - This is so hydrating. My skin in the summer is too oily for a moisturizer like this but as winter comes full force I can see myself needing a cream like this.
  • Biotherm Aquasource Nuit Sample- This gel moisturizer was amazing. I am probably going to splurge and pick this up for winter season. After using this my skin felt so nice the next morning and it did not cause any extra oiliness.
  • Annabelle BB Cream Sample - I liked this alot more than the Garnier BB Cream but I still have a love/hate relationship with BB. I don't like the thick consistency and like a product that feels lighter on the skin.
  • Nivea Pure & Natural Day Cream Sample- This was really heavy, the scent was not something I liked, and I don't like creams that leave a residue.
  • La Fresh Nail Polish Remover Wipe - I don't like these. They don't work and are oily.
  • Nivea Day Care Cream - I cant really remember when I used this. So I cant really give much thoughts on it.

Fall Haul: Candles, Nail Polish & Shampoo Galore!

Even though I keep saying I am going on a no-buy and I need to save money I kinda splurged and got a bunch of stuff, but I also got everything on sale so the buyers remorse was minimized.

My first purchase was from the Glymm website so that I could use up 500 points that I accumulated. I decided that I really wanted to try some of the Butter London Polishes and spent hours looking up swatches and deciding on the three that I was going to purchase. I wanted Fairy Lights, Knees Up, and Rosie Lee. After almost a month of waiting for my purchase and going back and forth with Glymm Customer support team I got my purchase, but got Tart with a Heart instead of Rosie Lee.

They offered to send me the correct polish if I sent the wrong one back but I was tired of having to deal with Glymm so I just kept the wrong polish. For having to wait they sent me a foundation paper sample and a free principessa lip balm. With my points and free shipping this purchase only cost me $7.00.

Next stop was the Dollarama to stalk the hair and makeup isle for new deals. Lately, I have been seeing some great brands for cheap at the Dollarama, so I try and go once a week to look for steals. On this trip I got:
  1. Aussie Styling Smooth Leave in Conditioner and Heat Protectant. I was so excited to see this because I had been looking for a leave in conditioner for a while. I thought $3 was great for this because it is almost twice that at Walmart.
  2. PUR(e) Makeup Remover. I picked this up on a whim because it was only $2 and I wanted a back up for when my Marcelle one is finished. However, when I got home and smelt the product it kinda smells like nail polish remover so I am wary to put this on my face.
  3. Almay Mascara. The concept of this mascara really intrigues me. You can pick the intensity of your lashes by adjusting the dial on the tube.
  4. ELF Blending Brush. This is a staple in my brush collection now and I use it almost everyday.

I picked up two more Revlon Polishes. A dirty lilac grey colour and a deep purple that looks black in some lights but also looks blue in others. I love that I find Revlon for half the price.

I also picked up the Wet & Wild Top Coat. I haven't tried this yet but I have high hopes.

They also had these Color Shock Kozmic Colours Nail polishes for only $1 so I picked up all 8 colours that were available. I have tried two of these so far and the colour payoff is amazing, it lasts forever without chipping and they are absolutely gorgeous.

I feel like no Beauty Blogger's Fall Haul is complete without a Bath and Body Works Candle Haul. I picked up a few of the mini candles in:
  • Farmstand Apple
  • Pumpkin Caramel Latte
  • Creamy Pumpkin, &
  • Leaves!
The minis are 2 for $5 and last for a decent amount of time. I like buying these because they are a great way to try out scents without the commitment of a three-wick candle. This is totally cliche, but I LOVE LEAVES!! So good, and my favourite Fall scent by far!

I also picked up two 3-wick candles when there were on sale for 2 for $25. I got Farmstand Apple and Frosted Cupcake. One for the fall season and winter season. I am going to buy some Leaves in this size once my store gets more in stock.

Next I hauled A LOT of shampoo. At Walmart I found Herbal Essences 2-in-1 Bye Bye Breakage Shampoo on sale for $1 so picked up three.

At Shoppers Drug Mart I got these Garnier Fructis Shampoo and Conditioner combo packs on sale for only $2.72. These packs come with a 700mL shampoo and a 350mL conditioner.

At Dollarama I picked up the Nivea Apricot Body Wash for only $2. It smells amazing! Exactly like a fresh apricot. I am so excited to try this.

And lastly, I got this adorable owl candle holder for my mini candles. This little guy is only $6 at Bath and Body Works and I love him!

What have you hauled for Fall??

Glymm September 2012 - A Farewell Post

Glymm, Glymm, Glymm our relationship has been long and at some points it was great and at others it was down-right disappointing, but in the end I feel we have grown together and now it is time to say goodbye.

Alas, this is my finally Glymm Box. I didn't think I would feel so sentimental and kinda upset that this is the last box I will be receiving. I have been so disappointed the last few months with the products that Glymm has been sending and I was almost ready to cancel my yearly subscription early, but I am glad I stuck it out until the end.

I was very tempted to sign up for the Free Nail Polish Promotion, but I don't feel as though the nail polish alone will be worth my $12/month. At the beginning Glymm was giving out more makeup and now I see them as a skincare/haircare sample bag and that is not what I am looking for. Maybe in the future if they start sending out more makeup I will subscribe again.

If you would like to sign up for Glymm you can see my past years boxes by searching "Glymm" in the Search My Blog Gadget. If you would like to get the Free Nail Polish Promo you must join by September 30 using the code below.

Now onto what I received in this months bag!

EVOLVH MOISTURIZING SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER
Sample Value - 2oz for $5.65 & $5.88
Full Size - 8.5oz for $24 & $25

Shampoo - Ideal for both color treated and virgin hair, this Shampoo gently cleanses while infusing moisture and nutrients, leaving hair nourished.

Conditioner - Rather than coating hair, this conditioner penetrates the hair shaft to moisturize and repair hair from the inside out.

My Thoughts - I am glad that these are not packet samples and I'm glad that we got to try both the shampoo and the conditioner together. I hate when sample boxes only send out half of the combo. They smell amazing and I'm excited to try a Vegan Hair Product. I'm finding that I am getting a lot of product buildup so hopefully this will help purify my hair. These came at the perfect time because I am going to a wedding in Port Credit in 2 weeks and I really didn't want to pack big bottles.

VILLAINESS SOAPS WHIPPED BODY CREME
Sample Value - 10ml(roughly) for $0.90
Full Size - 177ml/$15.75

Whip your skin into shape and 'redefine bad' with this thick, yet light and quite soluble body crème - much like edible whipped heavy cream. Yum.

You can buy the Villainess Whipped Body Creme by clicking the link.

My Thoughts - This smells so good and exactly like a Vanilla Bean Frappuccino from Starbucks! I have never used a whipped body cream before...the texture is different but I like it, and the sample size is perfect for your purse. It absorbs quickly into the skin leaving barely, if any, oily residue. I may buy the full size of this once my sample runs out.

BENTABERRY SUPER MOISTURIZING FACE CREAM FOR GIRLS
Sample Value - 3ml/$1.90
Full Size - 30ml/$19

The high-quality super moisturizing face cream for girls is made from 100% natural active ingredients: apple, prickly pear, strawberry, kiwi, kigelia africana and macadamia oil.

My Thoughts - I hated the BentaBerry cream we got last month and I am a little upset that they would send the same sample two months in a row. Face cream is face cream whether the name says for girls or for boys and girls. Plus this sample smells horrible and is not something I can see myself putting on my face.

LA FRESH WATERPROOF MAKEUP REMOVER
Sample Value - 2 wipes/$0.83
Full Size - 24 wipes/$9.99

Gently wipe your eyes & lips with love and good intention. Soon they will be sparkling clean. No need to rinse.

My Thoughts - I wasn't overly impressed with the nail polish wipes we got a few months ago, so I am not expecting to love these wipes. I also am not the biggest fan of lavender so I am not sure if I will use these.

Overall, I am pretty happy with this bag. Although I am sad to see Glymm go this now opens the door for me to bring in a new sample box. I am looking for one with more makeup and less skincare in it. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know in the comments below

Value of September Glymm Box - $15.16

P&G BrandSampler

It was about February when I received an email about the upcoming Spring P&G BrandSampler. I've heard about these boxes before and really wanted to get one. Full of deluxe size samples of Proctor & Gamble products to try, who wouldn't want to try and get their hands on one. This box was going to be available in April and April came and I never got another email about it so I thought I missed out.

Browsing on Smart Canucks I saw that it was still available and probably got one of the last boxes. For anyone interested in trying to get the next BrandSampler you have to register and can do so here.

Overall, I am so happy with this sample box. I got a wide variety of products and a lot of them were bigger then the samples I get in the subscription boxes I pay for each month. I give this a 5/5 and I definite recommend trying to get your hands on one of these boxes. Now on to what I got!!

I got 2 Full Size products and 4 deluxe samples. I cannot be more pleased. Based on prices I've seen at a variety of stores I put the value of this box at around $25. That's amazing since I paid nothing for this box. What I like about this sampler too is that it is actual products that I can afford to buy the full size of if I like them. Very unlike Glymm who sends samples of $120 face creams.

I was so happy to see this in the box cause I have been looking at them in the stores since they came out. It smells really good and it is going in my boyfriend's car whether he likes it or not lol

I've just bought a teeth whitening kit so this came at a good time. This is the perfect size for travel or just to put in your purse to freshen your breathe at work or a wedding or a party.

I LOVE the commercial for these, it's so funny! I'm excited to see if these actually do what they are supposed to.

Hair care samples this size are perfect for knowing whether you would like it enough to buy the full size.

I think that this is a razor for men but I'm really excited to try it out. It has 5 blades and a precision trimmer blade. A razor like this in store is about $10.

If anyone else got a BrandSampler Box did you get anything different from me? What product would you be most excited to receive?
