March Empties & Throw Aways

This month I did a lot better when it came to using up products and not buying as many. Half of the products in this post are empty and the other half are products I found in my collection that I have had forever and really just needed to get thrown out.

I would have used up alot more products, however, in the past 2 weeks I really haven't been wearing makeup because I have been healing after a bad car accident.

Lush Color Supplement in Light Pink
Repurchase: Yes
My Thoughts: I love using this color supplement mixed with my daily moisturizer to make a tinted moisturizer. The coverage is just enough for days where I don't need a ton of coverage. It is also perfect to use as a spot concealer if you need extra coverage. The pot looks really little but it usually lasts me about 3 months. This costs $13.95.
Replacement Product: Covergirl Foundation

Clinique High Impact Mascara - Sample
Purchase Full Size: Maybe
My Thoughts:  I received this sample in a gift with purchase a few months ago. Although I really liked the mascara and how it made my lashes look, I am not sure if I liked it enough to splurge on the full size, when I can get a similar effect from a mascara from the drugstore.
Replacement Product:  Covergirl Mascara

Face & Eye Cleansing Cloths For All Skin Types
Repurchase: Yes
My Thoughts: These are my favourite makeup remover wipes. You get 25 wipes for $1.25 and are the best makeup remover wipes I have ever used. I don't believe that you need $10 wipes to remove your makeup. As long as the Dollarama continues to sell these I will buy them, because they remove makeup with 1 wipe. If they ever stop selling them I will probably switch to baby wipes to remove my makeup.
Replacement Product: Face & Eye Cleansing Cloths For All Skin Types from Dollarama

Antibacterial Wipes (x5)
Repurchase: NO
My Thoughts: The are sanitizer wipes I have been trying to use up for a while now. Really nothing special and they are over priced.
Replacement Product:  No name hand sanitizer from Dollarama

The Body Shop Skin Primer Moisturize It
Repurchase:  NO
My Thoughts:  This was the first primer I ever bought when I started to get into makeup. I was looking for an eye primer and was talked into this one from The Body Shop, because I could use it for my face or eyes. I liked it when I first started using it but really started to hate it after a while. It made my face and eyelids way to oily. This has been in my collection for about 3 years now and although it wasn't empty it has changed to a different color so I thought it was time to throw it out.
Replacement Product:  Various random eye and face primers

Great Lash Mascara
Repurchase:  No
My Thoughts: I received this as part of a gift set from Walmart. I really wanted to like this because my mom has been using this for years, but I just couldn't get the wand to work for me. I really like the look of the new brush better. This mascara isn't empty but it has been open for about a year and wasn't safe to use anymore.
Replacement Product: Covergirl Mascara

Covergirl Lash Blast Waterproof Mascara
Repurchase: No
My Thoughts: I really wanted to like this mascara because I really like the non waterproof version. However, I hated this formula and never used it. It was also a pain to get off of my eyelashes.
Replacement Product: Covergirl Mascara

NYC Translucent Powder x2
Repurchase: NO
My Thoughts:  I bought these powders many months ago and used both of them a few times but just couldn't get the formula to work for me. The color is all wrong and they are very chalky. I couldn't get them to blend into my skin. The powder just kinda sat on top of my skin and it was not a pretty look.
Replacement Product:  MAC Pressed Powder

Wet n Wild Ultimate Cover Smooth Foundation
Repurchase: Yes
My Thoughts: I actually didn't mind this foundation. The coverage was decent and it was fairly easy to work with. However, I don't think that this was the right color for me, it never really blended all the way into my skin. I would repurchase this but in a different color. I also like that the cost of this foundation is so low.
Replacement Product: Covergirl Foundation

NYC Mosaic Face Powder Color Wheel
Repurchase: NO
My Thoughts:  This was another NYC Powder that I just could not get to work for me.
Replacement Product: MAC Pressed Powder

NYC Concealer Stick
Repurchase: NO
My Thoughts: This was the worst concealer I have ever used! So so bad!
Replacement Product: MAC Select Concealer

Rimmel Hide the Blemish Concealer
Repurchase: NO
My Thoughts: I bought this concealer on sale for $5 and it was so bad. It just sat on top of the skin and didn't really conceal anything.
Replacement Product: MAC Select Concealer

Avon Glimmersticks Eye Liner
Repurchase:  No
My Thoughts: I really liked this eyeliner. It was very black and had a hint of shimmer which was an unexpected pop of fun to any eye look. However, this eye liner dried out very quickly and was not easy to work with after.
Replacement Product: Various random eye liners

Forever 21 Lip Glosses
Repurchase: No
My Thoughts:
Replacement Products: Various other lip glosses

Clean & Clear Oil Free Moisturizer - Sample
Purchase Full Size: No
My Thoughts: I got this sample at the college as part of a freshman survival pack. I used about half of the sample before I realized that this moisturizer was the reason for my break outs. I finally decided to throw it out.
Replacement Product: Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel

NOTD: Mod Agua

During my last trip to Winners I stumbled upon some Nubar Nail Polishes on sale for only $6.99 a bottle. I picked up three different colors and I'm slowly working my way through them. The first one I decided to wear was Mod Agua a beautiful muted light blue/teal creme. It is the perfect blue/teal color for spring and one that I have been looking for for a long time. To me in person this color looks like a muted Tiffany's Blue.

The application of this polish was very opaque after one coat and fully opaque after two. The consistency is very smooth and I had almost no problem with streaking when applying. It also dried fairly quickly which is a quality I like in nail polish.

I hope that the pictures below capture the beauty of this polish but I'm not sure that they do.

March Glymm Box

After many months of disappointment with Glymm they finally redeemed themselves with March's box. This month there were 2 full size products, 2 exclusive samples, a coupon for a free full size lip gloss, and 2 extra products. One of the extra products was my replacement Vasanti that had arrived empty a few months ago.

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS/Hydrafull Gloss
Sample Value: 1ml/$12.27
Full Size: 2.2ml/$27
On the Card: Get your lips softer and fuller! Drench them with multi-dimensional pigments that release high shine and color. It stays put without the sticky residue. This rich and fortifying formula nourishes your lips with the added benefits of Jojoba Oil, Shea Butter and Anastasia's exclusive Balkan Botanical Infusion. Pucker up beauties!
My Thoughts: The sample of this gloss is so freaking cute! I was really excited to see another Anastasia product in this month's box because I LOVE the Clear Brow Gel that they sent a few months ago. I got the color MOI which is a really nice rose color. This gloss isn't sticky at all and is almost unscented. What I really like about this gloss is the applicator. I don't have any lip glosses with an applicator like this one. It is shaped like a spatula and is made of what feels like rubber. I really like it because it applies the gloss but doesn't pick up any of the lipstick that I already had on my lips.

M.ASAM/Magic Fini
Sample Value: 5ml/$6.33
Full Size: 30ml/$38
On the Card: This silky formula blends beautifully into your skin to conceal uneven skin tone for a light, matte, natural looking finish. It smoothes away the appearance of wrinkles, enlarged pores and imperfections to reveal a sun kissed, healthy looking skin tone. It's magical.
My Thoughts: My first impression of this product was that it was way too dark for me. I filled out on my beauty profile that I have very fair skin so I didn't understand why they would send me a face product that was so dark. However, upon trying this product on my hand I found that it blended in almost perfectly with my skin tone. It leaves my skin looking like I have a slight tan. I think that if I mix this product with some moisturizer it will sheer out to give enough coverage without making me look orange. This product smells amazing and the whipped consistency is so easy to work with.

NU-ME/Feather Hair Extensions
Sample Value: 3/$25
Full Size: 3/$25
On the Card: Get professional-grade DIY feather extensions instantly! A beauty trend that definitely STANDS OUT. Colored hair trends have been prevalent on the hottest Spring 2012 runways. NuMe extensions are 100% cruelty free, synthetically crafted from real human hair and ready for heat styling. Don't be shy, flaunt that feather!
My Thoughts: So excited to get these in my box!! I have been thinking lately about getting some feather hair extensions for just a pop of color in my hair. I love that I am getting to try such a great brand and that they are able to be styled like the rest of my hair. The blue color is going to look really good with my dark brown hair.

OCEAN/Nail Polish
Sample Value: 15ml/$12
Full Size: 15ml/$12
On the Card: A true trend-topper, Ocean Nail Polish Spring 2012 collection boasts shades that are vibrant, pastel and intense. This luscious lacquer applies super smoothly and streak free, and is fast drying without containing any toxins. It's sold in upscale salons around the USA and Europe.
My Thoughts: I love getting nail polish in subscription boxes. I am always getting new brands I've never tried and colors I wouldn't normally buy for myself. This month I got a really pretty red shimmery color from the brand Ocean. I like this polish because it is a wearable red and in the right light also looks coral. I haven't used this polish yet or even heard of this brand but as soon as I do I will right a blog post about the quality of it.

Replacement Product - VASANTI BrightenUp Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator
I received a replacement because a few month's ago the original one I received was empty upon arrival.

Bonus Product - COUP ECLAT Instant Facial Energizer
I am assuming that we got this extra product instead of the jelly beans this month. It reminds me of the Lise Watier product we received a few month's ago. I really liked the Lise Watier one so I am assuming I will like this one. I also really hope that they continue to send little Beauty Extras like this instead of the jelly beans. I would rather get to try more products then candy.

Value of this month's Glymm Box: $55.60 roughly. This does not include the value of the replacement Vasanti or Bonus Coup Eclat product.

Disclaimer: I bought this Glymm Box with my own money. All thoughts and opinions are honest and my own. I am not being compensated for this review by any of the above mentioned companies.

MAC Lip Product Haul

Over the past couple weeks I have stopped and splurged on some MAC Lip Products. I normally don't buy lip products from MAC because of how expensive the products there are. But some new collections came out and the lip products I gave in and bought were ones that I just couldnt stop looking at. These colors are really out of the box for me but I want to start using colors and products that are out of my comfort zone.

Such a beautiful, crazy tangerine color. Love it!

But when swatched it isn't too orange that I would be scared to wear it. This is going to look great paired with a peach, coral, or nude lipstick.

This pick color is sooo pretty and this product smells amazing!

The color pay off will make this perfect to wear over a pink lipstick or by itself.

Dish It Up Lipstick from the Cook MAC Collection. This picture is with no flash.

Picture with flash.

I love, love, love the berry color of this lipstick and the smooth consistency.

Chickened out on getting Viva Glam Gaga because of the crazy pink color, but I am all over Viva Glam Nicki. This coral is so out of the box for me, but looks amazing on.

Without flash.

With flash

Gorgeous right?

February Empties

I came to the realization that I am never going to be able to complete a no-buy Project 10 Pan. I like shopping too much and keep buying. I do want to try and use stuff up though, so I am no longer doing a Project 10 Pan, but I am going to keep doing a monthly empties blog post. I think that if I stay dedicated to doing these posts it will help encourage me to use up more products, so I have more to talk about.

Below are the products I complete used up in February.

CoverGirl Clean Makeup Pressed Powder
Repurchase: Yes
My Thoughts: I really liked this powder. It claimed to be oil free and to control oil and it did just that. The formulation was really smooth and it never made me look cakey, which I find most powders do. I have had this powder for so long and it has taken me months to finally use it up, but I am glad that I did. I would repurchase this powder, but I think I am going to try some other drugstore powders before making this my Holy Grail powder.
Replacement Product: NYC Translucent Loose Setting Powder

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Moisturizing Shampoo
Repurchase: Maybe
My Thoughts: I got this shampoo in a set at Christmas for a steal. It was only $4.50 for 2 bottles of shampoo and 1 bottle of conditioner. I liked the concept that to helps boost your natural brunette color. After using this whole bottle of shampoo I can say that I don't really see a difference in my hair. It doesn't look enhanced or any more luscious. I also found that this shampoo made my hair seem more greasy than normal.
Replacement Product: Sunsilk Hydra TLC Shampoo

Bath & Body Works Warm Vanilla Sugar PocketBac
Repurchase: Yes
My Thoughts: Warm Vanilla Sugar is my favourite scent from Bath & Body Works, so this product was super easy to use up. There really isn't much to say about this product, it's an antibacterial hand gel which I like to use at work when I am going from the shop into the office to make sure my hands are clean.
Replacement Product: Bath & Body Works Coconut Lime Verbena PocketBac

Alberto Miracle Mist
Repurchase: No
My Thoughts: I like this product as a heat defence spray but I don't like how it makes my hair feel throughout the day. It feels like I have a film on my hair and it makes my hair look greasy. With all of the other heat protectants on the market I am sure I can find something better.
Replacement Product: Nothing at the moment.

Bath & Body Works Antibacterial Wipes
Repurchase: No
My Thoughts: I bought these anti-bac wipes forever ago and never used them as I had originally planned. On the go I find it easier to use a PocketBac instead of these. In order to use these up I started using them before I apply my makeup to cleanse my hands.
Replacement Product: Bath & Body Works Antibacterial Wipes

Fusion Beauty Lash Fusion XL Mascara
Repurchase: Yes
My Thoughts: This is my favourite mascara ever! I got it super cheap at Winners, but it is the only higher end mascara I have used. It made my already long eyelashes look even more full and luscious. If you make the picture of the wand bigger it will seem like there is still alot of product left, but it has gotten to the point where the formula is waxey. It just makes a mess of my lashes and it is really hard to work with. I find that this mascara is one that you have to use up as soon as possible because it dries out so quickly.
Replacement Product: Clinique High Impact Mascara Sample
